About Loantaka

Founder: Evan Taylor

Loantaka [LOW-an-ta-ka] Records is a record label founded by producer and musician Evan Taylor. Founded in Glendale, NY and named after a nature preserve near his childhood home, Taylor launched the label in earnest upon moving to Los Angeles in 2018 with the intention of documenting a local community of songwriters.

Since its inception, the label—now based in Hollywood—has released albums from Sofia Bolt, Jess Cornelius, Easy Love, The Chapin Sisters and Purple Witch of Culver and has garnered notice from outlets such as Pitchfork, Rolling Stone and NPR.

In keeping with the carefully curated, in-house aesthetic of the label, Taylor also runs an affiliate recording studio, Loantaka Sound, in downtown Los Angeles, where he serves as a producer and has worked directly on several of the label’s releases.

In 2023, Loantaka Records will be releasing a star-studded album that serves as part-tribute and part-posthumous release by Bernie Worrell of Parliament Funkadelic and Talking Heads.
